Altec Inc. said it recently acquired part of a Massachusetts-based equipment manufacturer.
The Birmingham-based company’s Altec Northeast LLC finalized the deal to buy certain assets of Morse Manufacturing, an aerial device equipment maker for the utility industry, said a news release.
Altec said it will use the acquisition to expand its presence in New England and the Mid-Atlantic.
“Morse has a well-established reputation for producing reliable, quality products for over 125 years,” said Lee Styslinger III, president and CEO of Altec. “They have been a leading supplier of aerial device equipment for the utility industry, and their modern final assembly plant in Massachusetts will be an excellent complement to Altec’s comprehensive network of manufacturing and service facilities located throughout the United States and Canada.”
The company will use Morse’s Sterling, Mass., facility to assemble truck-mounted aerial lifts, digger derricks, cranes and bodies for its customers in New England and Mid-Atlantic states.
Altec is Birmingham based and produces specialty equipment for the electric utility, telecommunications, contractor and tree care industries.
