Uses for bucket trucks in the Holiday season

We’re rapidly approaching the Holiday’s and people everywhere are fearing the worst, getting off of the couch and setting up decorations. Ok, maybe it’s just me. Some uses of bucket trucks during Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year (among others) take on a more residential feel. The first use that comes to mind are the professional decorators that use bucket trucks to hang ornaments, lights, and other do-dads from homes. Let’s look a little deeper at some Fall, Winter time uses for our favorite aerial lift trucks.

For some gutter cleaning companies, using a bucket truck to reach their job site is a huge advantage. Instead of trudging up a ladder, workers can knock out a project in half the time. I know I’d love to have a lift truck for personal use for this reason alone. Also, some businesses and homes with gutters can be pretty tall and a bucket truck is a much safer option than a 30+ ft ladder.

Yep, decorating for the Holidays is huge here in America and bucket trucks are used to help with the process. Many big-time decorators use bucket trucks to reach the higher areas of a home or tree to decorate. Professional decorators on a budget will often rent a truck for the season… I’m sure it pays off big time. Decorators can work much more efficiently and safely with a lift truck than with a ladder. I don’t blame them at all. After years of climbing a ladder and walking on a roof to hang Christmas lights, I would love to have a bucket truck for this job.

Another use for bucket trucks during the Holiday season is to get a great view of decorations and the area. Last year, I was lucky enough to go up in a bucket during Christmas time and get an incredible view of the city and the Christmas decorations. The lights and everything from that vantage point was amazing. If you have the opportunity to get a view from a bucket truck during the Holidays, I highly recommend it.

Have any more uses for a bucket truck during this time of year? Jot it down in the comments, we’d love to hear them!

5 Uses for Bucket Trucks

1. Trimming Trees – A very common use for bucket trucks, in this case forestry bucket trucks, is tree trimming. Many times, it’s not safe for trimmers to clime the tree and the use of a lift truck helps them to reach a safe position. Bucket trucks allow trimmers to find the ideal position to cut limbs and are much safer than previous trimming methods. Arborists use bucket trucks a lot… trimming trees is one of the most common uses for bucket trucks trucks.

2. Photography – Yep, photographers use bucket trucks to get a unique vantage point to snap their photos. Check out this photo taken from a bucket truck:

3. Cinema – Along the same lines as photography, movie directors use bucket trucks to film. Again, they use them to get a different vantage point that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. A movie that used a bucket truck to film was “The Terminator”, one of my favorite movies.

4. Painting – If you’re like me and hate painting while standing on a ladder, a bucket truck is perfect. Lot’s of professional painters have bucket trucks at their disposal to help them with working at heights. A bucket truck is safer than a hydraulic lift because you can work on more uneven surfaces and is overall more stable. Imagine painting a three or four story building on a ladder or on a hydraulic lift.

5. Hunting – Ok ok, maybe only I would use a bucket truck for hunting but, it’s a use. I could have put a variety of uses at #5 like sign and light repair or decorating for holidays but it’s hunting season. :) Imagine having the best possible hunting spot at a perfect height. You could be 50 ft in the air and get perfect shot. Probably better have a two-man bucket and a stool to sit on.

Denver Storm Cleanup – Bucket Trucks Staying Busy

DENVER, COLORADO – Despite the heavy snow and widespread tree damage, it could have been worse.

“We just missed having a major tree-trimming episode,” said Denver Forester, Rob Davis. “I was very nervous waking up, but we were lucky, just a couple of inches of more snow and we would have lost many, many more trees. As it was, we lost some big, older, broad-leaf trees. Those kinds almost hold snow, if you will.”

All over the city you could spot tree company bucket trucks with trimmers doing their limb to limb tight rope, as they cut branches and limbs that had broken-bended but not fallen yet.

“I came out here to make sure this huge limb was off the sidewalk and out of the way for those trying to walk by, “ said Floyd Pride, who had chain saw in hand.

There are city drop off points that will open this weekend for those who want to haul off branches and limbs. Many cities are offering to pick up bundled and tied branches if you leave them at the curb.

As the sun came out, so did the color the snow had been covering. So, for at least one more weekend we will get to see some of the great leaf color we’ve been enjoying for the past few weeks.

“We just got back from New England and they had very little color this fall, our foliage has been just amazing this year,” said Kathleen O’Connor, who decided to take down a pair of 100-year old Walnut trees that grew up with her home in Park Hill. “All we can do is re-plant, but boy does our house look different without them!”

How good is your utility truck dealer?

Have you ever bought something, couldn’t wait to use it and when you did, it broke? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has felt this kind of heartbreak and I’d be happy if I never had to go through it again. Thousands of utility truck buyers get that feeling every year when they purchase a bucket truck or digger derrick from a low-quality dealer. When it comes to a huge investment like utility trucks, you really don’t want to feel your stomach sink like that. Here’s how to keep your butterflies, heartache, and sinking feelings away… at least when it comes to buying utility trucks.

First and foremost, buy from a reliable, honest dealership. Yes, they are out there and you know about them… *cough* I-80 Equipment. A good dealer won’t be aimed at making one quick sale and then never talking to you again, they want to build a long relationship with you and help make your company successful and grow. Honestly, it’s in the dealer’s best interest to provide you with a truck that will provide the highest return on investment. When it’s time to get another bucket truck, they’ll be there ready to help you out.

Usually, it’s not wise to buy equipment from used car dealers or the like.

utility bucket truck dealers

Get a truck from a place that will help you out after the sale. It happens sometimes; something is broken or not working on a bucket truck you just bought. It doesn’t happen often but the measure for a good dealership is whether or not they help you with it. Will they fix the problem or tell you off? Will they help you get the part you need or ignore your phone call? It sounds crazy that a business could behave so poorly with after the sale customer service but it happens a lot. If a dealer has a warranty or some after the sale incentives, they probably have good customer service as well (not always the case).

Heck, if you’re reading this post, you’re already on one of the industry leading utility truck sales website. Go ahead and buy from us, I-80 Equipment. We have some awesome reviews, returning customers, amazing equipment, and best of all, we’re not jerks. :)

Give us a call today at 1-888-949-3701. We look forward to helping you on your next bucket truck, digger derrick, boom truck, forestry truck, grapple truck, and specialty equipment purchase.
